Local payment preferences vary widely between markets. A method that works well in one country may have limited use in another.

SPAYZ.io is expanding its local payment coverage in three markets with different payment habits and infrastructure: Nigeria, Japan, and the Philippines. The new options include bank transfers for payins and payouts in Nigeria and Japan, and GCash P2P in the Philippines. Here's what each addition means for merchants operating in these markets.

‍Strengthening payment infrastructure in Nigeria

SPAYZ.io now supports bank transfers for payins and payouts in Nigeria, expanding its payment coverage in West Africa. This is part of SPAYZ.io's broader expansion across Africa. Across Africa, the total value of digital payment transactions is projected to reach $236.1 billion in 2025 and $611.2 billion by 2029. For merchants entering Nigeria and other African markets, this growth points to rising demand for digital payment options. Wider smartphone and internet access is also increasing demand for digital payments.

Expanding payment access in Japan

Japan is a large but complex payments market, with strict regulation and a historically slower shift towards cashless payments. As of 2022, Japan's cashless payment ratio reached around 36%, showing a steady shift away from cash. SPAYZ.io now supports bank transfers in Japan, giving merchants another way to accept and send local payments.

Enabling digital payments in the Philippines

SPAYZ.io now supports GCash P2P for payins and payouts in the Philippines, where digital payment adoption continues to grow. While cash remains widely used, the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas continues to promote digital payments as part of its financial inclusion strategy. GCash P2P gives merchants a local payment option already familiar to millions of consumers in the Philippines.

A vision for the future

At SPAYZ.io, we continuously seek new opportunities to connect merchants with digitally empowered consumers worldwide. We aim to anticipate and adapt to emerging market trends, ensuring businesses can meet their customers' payment preferences. We are excited about our latest expansions in Nigeria and the Philippines - key milestones in our broader strategy to strengthen payment networks across Africa and Asia throughout 2025.

But our focus is not only on the emerging markets. Established economies also offer untapped potential, and we are dedicated to unlocking new opportunities for our merchants. Our bank transfer services in Japan exemplify this approach, ensuring seamless access to a traditionally complex market. Stay tuned for more updates as we continue expanding into new regions.
